Whispered interpreting
Waltraud Hofer
The interpreter sits next to or behind the persons who do not understand the conference language and translates in a low voice.
This type of interpretation is suitable for business meetings with a small number of participants, board meetings, or small groups.
Whispered interpreting does not require any technical equipment. Whispered interpreting is quite demanding for the interpreters due to the noise and creates an unavoidable murmur that can be distracting to other participants.
